LYNN — Alden Denny Jones, age 78, longtime resident of Lynn passed away on December 3, 2017, after a long term illness. Denny was born in Boston, Ma and moved to Lynn as a young child. He lived in Lynn for the greater part of his life. Denny attended Boston Public Schools and was employed as a Packer in building 63 in General Electric for 25 years. Alden loved his family. He was also the love of Carol's life. Denny and Carol meet over 61 years ago. This young love flourished and formed an unbreakable union. You would rarely see one without the other; they enjoyed traveling together, dining out, visiting family and friends, and hosting some of the best parties the city has ever seen.
Denny enjoyed playing chess and going to chess tournaments, playing cards, going deep sea fishing and traveling. Denny leaves to mourn the love of his life, his best friend, his wife, Carol (Breedy) Jones of Lynn; three daughters, Denise A. Jones of Methuen, Darlene Coleman of Lynn, and Doreen Jones of Lynn. He also leaves his eight grandchildren, Robert Jones, Monique Jones, Herbert Jones, Monica Jones, Toniea Coleman, Shawn Coleman, Anthony D. Coleman, Raven Coleman, and Jamaal White. He also leaves seven great-grandchildren, Arianna Jones, Avonie Whitley-Jones, LaTrell Gibson, Ci'Ameri Jones, Shawn Coleman Jr., Jayden White and Jaycee White.
Denny is predeceased by his mother Alice (Jones)-Kramer and step father Norman Kramer. He also leaves to mourn a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, very close friends and many others who affectionately called him "Uncle Denny"
Service information: Wake/Visitation Service will be held in the GOODRICH Funeral Home 128 Washington St., Lynn on Friday 4-7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Zion Baptist Church 4 Adam Street Extension, Lynn on Saturday at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
