IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Alphonse E.
Womack
September 18, 2021
Alphonse E. Womack was born on April 13, 1939 to the union of George Munroe and Elnora (Goldsberry) Womack in Luenburg County, Virginia. Fondly called Al by all who knew him, he was the third of eleven children. He is predeceased in homegoing by his dad George and mother Elnora, sister Geneva, brother Daniel and sister Allie. Al was the eldest son of a "share cropper". At a young age he joined the Flat Rock Baptist Church in Kenbridge, Virginia. Al was a Junior Deacon and he sang "bass" with his brothers in a Quartet called "The Spiritual 5". We know them as the Womack brothers. Al was educated through the Virginia School System of Luenburg County. While attending High School he enlisted in the Armed Forces of the United States of America. Then he continued in the Army National Guard of Massachusetts and as a Reserve of the Army. In May 1977, Al was honorably discharged. In addition, while in High School Al performed civic duties, ran track and continued to sing in the Spiritual 5. After migrating North, Al worked in various jobs in the automotive repair industry. He could repair almost anything that could be driven, ridden, pushed or pulled. That's how he earned the nickname Mr. Fixit!" In May 2003, he was inspired to open his own repair shop called "Repair Shop On Wheels". His passion and hobby was motorcycles, not only did he like to ride them, but he designed and converted Volkswagen cars into trikes ( a three wheeler ). Al was a free spirit and he loved the outdoors. He was one of the founding members of the Ebony Wheels Social Club, and a faithful member since 1974. In 2010, Al was awarded lifetime member status. In 1979 Al was introduced to Brenda J. Reed and a year later in August 1980 they were married. They have three beautiful children, Tanya, Elijah and Camron. Al took good care of his family and provided for them. He was a dependable, honest and gentle man. His intuition served him well to accomplish great feats. While living in Massachusetts he attended services at many different churches, however in 2015 he started fellowshipping at Zion Baptist Church in Lynn where he felt at home. He joined and became a faithful member, singing in the Male Chorus and Senior Choir. On September 18, 2021, Al gained his wings and received the promises of the everlasting life with Our Heavenly Father. He leaves to celebrate his legacy, his wife Brenda of 41 years; daughter Tanya Spencer (Jamal), sons Elijah and Camron, granddaughter Tiffany Joy, God daughters Touraine and Constance Porter, all of Lynn, brothers George Jr. of New Jersey, Reverend John Sr. (Bertha) of Florida, Sherman (Ilene) of Peabody, MA, Jerry (Iris) of North Carolina, Gregory of Richmond, Virginia, sisters Ecynthia Hardee of North Carolina and Jeanette Beaubian (Glen) of Arizona, sisters-in-love, Christine Robinson of Virginia, Antoinette Steed (Adam) of Massachusetts, Helen Garrett (Robert) of Pennsylvania, Linda Smith of Florida and Diane Porter (Albert) of Lynn, Massachusetts, brothers-in-love, Harry Reed (Marlene) of Ohio, Lewis Reed, Terry Reed (Jeanette) and Amos Reed, all of Boston, Massachusetts, a host of nieces and nephews both great and grand, relatives and friends.
