Anne Berry Bland
DOB: June 22, 1921
DOD: Passed suddenly on May 27, 2022 at 1:00 PM.
Anne Barron was born on June 22, 1921 in Hartford, CT and was raised in Malden, MA. She was the daughter of Ada Young Barron and William Barron. She had two siblings Constance Barron and William T. Barron who are deceased. She married Robert Berry (deceased) and moved to Lynn, MA in September of 1941. She has lived in Lynn, Mass for 80 years. She had one child Nadine A. E. Berry. Ms. Berry lived on South Elm and Summer Street for numerous years. She worked in Lynn for the garment industry when there were many shops located in Lynn, Massachusetts area. She also worked in the Boston area doing the same. She decided that she wanted to pursue a career in modeling and went on to John Robert Powers Modeling Agency in Boston and graduated with honors in cosmetology in 1960. You could see her modeling at the Polly Bergen Cosmetic section and selling the products in Filenes in the Boston, MA store. She was then discovered by Revlon and was asked to join them in New York to work in Bloomingdales where she resided for 10 years. On her retirement she came back to Lynn, and started enjoying her retirement and also doing voluntary work for Massachusetts General Hospital and Mass Eye and Ear Infirmary in Boston, MA. Since she had such a nick for selling she decided that she would start a Fund Raising effort for the Mass Eye and Ear Infirmary. It was not usual for her to approach a business in Lynn downtown area and receive a contribution to help the efforts of Mass Eye and Ear. Mrs. Berry raised money for them for over twenty years until the age of 85 years old.
She was a member at Emanual Baptist Church in Malden, MA for numerous years. She also attended services and Sunday School at Tremont Baptist Church, in Boston, MA and in later years attended Zion Baptist Church and participated in Prayer Meetings in Lynn, Mass.
Ms. Berry Bland leaves behind her daughter Nadine A. E. Berry who resides in Cheverly, MD along with numerous Nieces and Nephews, Great Nieces and Nephews and Cousins in the Lynn, MA and California area. Ms. Berry Bland will be remembered for her hard work ethic, her drive and her feisty nature and also her dedication to Mass Eye and Ear Infirmary Fund Raising effort in Boston, MA.
Ms. Berry Bland lived for over 100 years and will be greatly missed by her Daughter and loved ones.
Soar with the Angles and the Heavenly Family. We will meet again, Ma.
