Annie Ruth Burgess, age 76, born on May 8, 1941 in Quitman, Georgia passed away on December 18, 2017. She was the wife of the late Robert E. Burgess, Jr. with whom she shared 41 years of marriage. She had been a resident of Lynn, MA for the last 39 years. Annie was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. "Ann's Kitchen" was always open and she was famously known for her fried chicken. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, arts and crafts and doing crossword puzzles. One of her favorite TV shows was Family Feud with Steve Harvey. She loved spending time with family and friends. She was a member of the Boston Church of Christ and had many loving brothers and sisters in Christ. Annie and Robert often opened their home to those in need of a place to stay and were always willing to help.
Annie is survived by her children, Celeste Delaine of Lynn, MA, Sonja Burgess of Charlotte, NC and Louise "Nicky" and husband Ricky Pate of Lynn, MA; her sister Christine Stuckey of Georgia and her brother Robert Lee Manning. She is preceded in death by her late sister Eula B. McKinnie of Delaware and brother, Willie James Manning of Michigan. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, Tahira Delaine of Wheaton, MD, Gary V. Williams, Jr. of Peabody, MA, Courtney N. Adams of Charlotte, NC , Robert L. Burgess of Lynn, MA and Jasmine S. Collins of Lynn MA; two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews ; brother in law, Moses W. Burgess and his wife Norma Jean; and her sister in law, Mary F. Burgess of Littleton, NC. Visitation will be held in the Goodrich Funeral Home, 128 Washington St., Lynn on Friday at 11:00 a.m. Her funeral service will be held at noon with burial to follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
