Benjamin R. Franklin, age 89, of Lynn, passed away Tuesday December 16, 2014. Born in Nova Scotia, he was the son of the late John and Louise (Perrie) Franklin. Benjamin was a Veteran of WWII and Korea, serving with the United States Army. Prior to his retirement, he worked as a welder with General Electric, where he was also a union rep. He was a member of the VFW and enjoyed deep sea fishing and golfing. He is survived by his wife Shirley (Thomas) Franklin of Lynn, his four children, Kevin Franklin of Texas, Tracy Wilson of Framingham, Nelloue Franklin of Lynn and James Franklin of Lynn, his sister Sarah Swan of Toledo, Ohio, six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Hattie Gilton and Buster Franklin. A funeral service will be held in the Goodrich Funeral Home, 128 Washington St., Lynn, on Monday at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Visitation is Sunday 3:00-6:00 p.m.
