Catherine "Cat" Murkison, age 88, a Lynn resident for 60 years, passed away Thursday, June 22, 2023.  She was born in Marion, Alabama and raised in Bessemer, Alabama, attending Bessemer Public School and Paul Lawrence Dunbar High School.  For 22 years Catherine worked for General Electric and Ametech as an assembly packer.  She was a member of: NAACP, The Community Brotherhood Women's Auxiliary, the Progressive "14" Social Club, The Order of the Eastern Star, Shuminnite Lodge and the Zion Baptist Church.  She enjoyed cooking, fashion and interior design.  She is survived by her daughters; Katrina Bingham of Lynn, Monica Renee Murkison of Saratoga Springs, NY and Tabitha Simone Murkison of Dedham, sons; Anthony Murkison and his wife Barbara of Salem, Darrell Murkison and his wife Nadine, Alexander Murkison and his wife Dalita, all of Lynn, her sister Mary Rose Akers of Lynn, brother Willie E. Underwood of Birmingham, Alabama, first grandchild Rosalyn A. Murkison, Aunts Herietta Moore-Cooper and Margretta Moore Green, all of Lynn, as well as a host of Aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, grand and great-grandchildren and friends.  She was the mother of the late Kenneth Wayne Ward and Reginald O. Murkison.  Catherine's Funeral Service will be held in the Zion Baptist Church, 4 Adams Street Extension, 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 8, 2023.  Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.  Visitation is also in the Church Friday, 4:00 – 7:00 p.m.  Arrangements by the Goodrich Funeral Home, 128 Washington Street, Lynn.
