Bowzer

Goodrich Funeral Home
2:00 - 6:00 pm (Eastern time)
Chester S. Bowzer of Lynn, MA passed away on May 13, 2026 at the age of 75. He leaves behind his wife, Alice (Wade) Bowzer, with whom he shared 52 years of marriage.
Chester was a lifelong Lynner. He graduated from Lynn English High School in 1969 and studied for one year at Salem State College before entering the apprenticeship program at General Electric. He went on to work at G.E. in both the Lynn and Everett plants in a range of positions including Mechanical Inspector and Foreman. He retired from G.E. in 2006. He also worked for The Ride for several years after his retirement.
Chester enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing, camping, and simply enjoying nature. He took his family camping every summer where they were able to experience camping in several different States. Chester loved music, especially Motown classics! He could often be found on the back porch reading the newspaper, listening to music, and enjoying a cigar. He looked forward to monthly brunch dates with old friends. They called their group “RODEO” which means Really Old Dudes Eating Out. Most of all, Chester enjoyed spending time with his family and being “Papa” to his grandchildren and great-granddaughter.
In addition to his wife, Chester is survived by his children Niquila Bowzer, Maquisha Alleyne and her husband Andrew, and Lynell Wade-Mendes all of Lynn as well as his sister Cathy Grey of Maryland. His favorite people, who called him Papa, are his grandchildren Rocquil Hackshaw, Nicolette Bowzer, Devaughn Bowzer, Janea Bowzer-Alleyne, Najea Bowzer-Alleyne and Kassius Alleyne all of Lynn, Lytrell Mendes and Estelle Mendes of Florida and his great-granddaughter Ariella Hackshaw-Garcia who gave him a great deal of joy in his later years. He also leaves behind a large extended family.
Services will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026 from 2:00pm to 6:00pm at the Goodrich Funeral home, 128 Washington Street in Lynn.
