After a lengthy illness, Collette Carmencita Hodge (age 78), passed away June 16, 2024 peacefully in her sleep at the Tobey Hospital in Wareham, MA.  Collette was born on June 29, 1945, in St. John's, Antigua. In her later years she resided in Fairhaven MA.

Collette was the beloved daughter of the late Hazel and Philbert Hodge of Lynn, MA.  She was also pre-deceased by her brothers Paget Hodge, who died in the Philippines,  and George Hodge of Dartmouth, MA.  Collette is survived by her siblings Sonia Hodge,  Elpert Hodge and wife Ann Hodge, Artie Hodge-Blanche and husband Lavard Blanche,  Cynthia Walrond and husband Iverston Walrond, Gamal Lumumba Nkrumah and wife  Lynn Lumumba Nkrumah, sister Karen Hodge, Sister-in law Diane Hodge (widow of George Hodge), as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.    Collette worked at Nassau Hospital in Hempstead for approximately 25 years, and  at The Xerox Corporation in NY.        She was a very dedicated church member of the Methodist Church in Roosevelt, NY, and of the Acushnet-Wesley United Methodist church in Acushnet, MA. She was a choir member in both churches and was very involved in church life. Collette was an advocate for the homeless, cooking elaborate meals for this population on Thanksgiving and other occasions. Aside from cooking delicious meals for the people around her, she also enjoyed gardening and listening to spiritual music. Collette loved her family and friends and was very dedicated to everyone she loved. Her deep spiritual life helped her to overcome life's challenges and to always have a positive, caring, and loving disposition. Collette leaves a legacy of kindness, empathy, and devotion to her family and friends.
