David W. Burns, 65, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2026, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, surrounded by the love of his family.

David was a devoted husband, brother, uncle, and friend whose warmth, humor, and loyalty touched everyone who knew him. He shared 44 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Patricia Burns, who was the center of his life.

He is survived by his loving wife Patricia; his brothers John, Mike, Steve, and Tim Burns; his sisters Karen, Anna, and Ro-Ann; and many cherished nieces and nephews. David was predeceased by his father, Albert Burns Sr.; his mother, Mary (Skinner) Burns; his brothers AJ Burns and Walter “Sonny” Burns; and his sister, Mary Thistle.

David dedicated much of his life to cooking, spending 35 years at Century House and 25 years at Goodwin’s, where he took pride in his hard work and the relationships he built along the way.

Outside of work, David enjoyed candlepin bowling, playing cribbage and poker, and soaking up the summer sun whenever he could. He never missed an opportunity to help his family, spend time with those he loved, or making people laugh — often at his own expense. His sense of humor, generous heart, and unwavering devotion to family will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

To David, family was his greatest possession, and the love he gave so freely will continue to live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
