Diane Mello, age 67, after many years of illness, was taken by God to end her pain and suffering and finally be at peace. Diane passed away on June 15th while in the care of Kaplan House in Danvers. She is now with her many family members and friends who predeceased her. Diane was born and lived all her life in Lynn, She attended St. Mary's schools for twelve years and graduated in 1973. She was active in the Franco-American War Veterans' Auxiliary Post 12 and was a former President of that organization. As President, Diane was instrumental in facilitating a relationship between the Post and the Volunteers In Probation Program at the Lynn District Court Probation Department. She was responsible for recruiting volunteers from the Post and other places to volunteer as mentors to probationers. She volunteered as a mentor for several years. In addition to her community activities, Diane was an incredibly kind person who took the time to listen and to help individuals who were in need. There always was room for another person who might be in need of a meal at her dinner table. She touched many lives with her love and care. She was the strongest person many of us had met and always thought of others before herself. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Diane leaves behind her son, Ryan Mello and his wife Alicia, of Lynn who were her loving caregivers for many years. Also, her sister, Brenda (Kevin) Coakley, of Brick, NJ, a nephew, Kevin Coakley of Queensbury, NY, a niece, April (Mark) Richards of Brick NJ, great nephews/nieces, Darius and Kiara Richards, and Alana, Kevin III, and Christian Coakley. Diane was predeceased by her parents, Lillian and Edmond "Eddie" Richard. She also leaves behind many friends and extended family members in the Lynn area and in Canada. Donations can be made to the MS Association of America (https://mymsaa.org/).
