Dolores "Joan" Deitz passed away on July 2, 2022, at the age of ninety-three. She was a longtime resident of Marblehead and The Brookhouse Home in Salem, Ma.

Joan was born Dec 1, 1928, to Bertha and Howard Hanst. She was married to William C. Deitz for over 60 years, until his death in 2010. Raised in New Jersey, she attended Fairleigh Dickenson University and started her career as an executive secretary with Bell Labs. After retiring from NYNEX in the 1990s, Joan returned to college at Salem State University and accomplished her lifelong goal of earning a Bachelor of Arts degree.

Joan was an avid traveler, accomplished knitter, voracious reader and loved the challenge of crossword puzzles, trivia competitions and Jeopardy. She had 6 brothers and sisters and is survived by many nieces, nephews, and their children.

Joan will be missed by the families of Alexandra Allard-Bruton of Beverly, MA, Diane Vinita of Marblehead, MA, Daniel Allard of Pasadena, CA, Donna Schmidlin of Branchville, NJ, and many others in the extended family.  A private remembrance will be held at a later time.
