Obituary

Domenic A. Laurenza, Jr, of Lynn, left his family for eternal life on Friday, January 8, 2021, at the age of 75. He was born on March 7, 1945, to the late Domenic A. and the late Helen A. (Antoncheck) Laurenza in Lawrence, Ma.  He grew up in Lawrence, Mass. later moving to Delray Beach, Florida in 1960 -1961.  The family then moved to Swampscott, Mass where Domenic was a 1963 graduate of Swampscott High School where he lettered in Varsity Baseball.

Nick was incredibly proud of his service to his country in the United States Army as a Private First Class from 1964 - 1967. He served as a chef in Vietnam and earned the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. He received an Honorable Discharge in July of 1967. Upon returning from the Army, he worked in the restaurant industry until he was declared 100% service disabled in 2014. Nick proudly shared his personal military experiences whenever the opportunity arose.

His wife Sharon (Norris), whom he truly loved, admired, and adored for 45 years, preceded him in death on May 20, 2011.

Domenic "Nick, Big Nick, Nicky, Grampy, Gramps and Grumps", was an avid sports fan and was a tried and true New York Yankees fan. His favorite football team was any team that was playing and winning against the New England Patriots. On more than one occasion, with a smile on his face, he participated in friendly banter with his friends and family on social media sharing his true feelings about our beloved New England teams.

Whether it was attending dance recitals, musical performances and shows, color guard competitions, baseball and hockey games, his grandson's rock band concerts and every graduation ceremony of his children and grandchildren, Nick cherished every minute with his family. He enjoyed more than anything, his family gatherings, travel shenanigans with his daughter Jamie, and especially looked forward to and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Family meant the most to him.

Nick often was found drinking his morning coffee at Brothers Deli with his brother Tony and always had an open chair at the table for anyone else that popped in. The family would like to thank George and the staff at Brother's Deli for always looking out for their dad.

He led by example by living his values and showing his children in his actions every day. Nick's family and friends will miss his humor, tireless support and unconditional love. He made so many feel like they were part of the Laurenza family making for such a grand extended family beyond what is shared here today.

Mr. Laurenza is survived by his six children, Dawn and her husband Vincent Pendleton of Haverhill; Dale Smith of Lawrence;  Samantha Laurenza of Roanoke, VA;  Domenic Laurenza III of Peabody; Jamie Laurenza of Lynn; and Matty Laurenza of Provincetown. Eight grandchildren Kerianne, Nicole and Christian "Stitch" Pendleton of Haverhill, Amy Fox and her husband Robert of Seaside, CA; Stephanie Smith of Haverhill, Kayla Smith of Springfield; Haleigh Laurenza of Melrose, Sarah Long of Blairs, VA and one great-grandchild Ava Marie Fox of Seaside, CA.

He also treasured the relationships he had with his children and grandchildren's significant others - Steve Moury, Lawrence Washington, Bo Keller, Brian Franco and Mark Burns, Aaron Lonergan as well as his "adopted" grandson Stephen Clements.

Mr. Laurenza also leaves his brothers, Anthony Laurenza of Lynn, Thomas Laorenza of Sebring, Florida, John Laurenza of Derry, New Hampshire, and Raymond Laurenza of Attleboro; his sister and brother-in-law Cheryl and Thomas Bonin of North Conway, NH; and many nieces and nephews. As well as many friends from St. Stephen's towers. His brother Michael Laurenza preceded him in death.
