Obituary

Doris Jane Jones affectionately known as, "Auntie Doris," was called to be with our Lord on June 23 rd . Auntie Doris was the beloved matriarch of our large family. She was loved by all who met her. Doris was born to Eunice Augusta Thomas in Harrisonburg, VA, on June 22, 1934., who preceded her in death.

In addition to her late husband John E. Jones, she was predeceased by a daughter, Linda, her son Dennis Jones, and his wife Frances. Two brothers, Edward Bullette (Uncle Mike,) and James Thomas (Uncle JT.) Also, beloved cousin George Humphries ( Chico) and George's mother Martha Lee.

Doris attended the Boston Public Schools. She attended the University of MA, and graduated with a BS degree in Social Work, Majoring in Geriatrics.

In her early years she worked at Raytheon, where she and her sister Betty made parts to put the first rockets into space, and the first man on the moon. Later, Doris worked at Greater Lynn Senior Service as Case Manager Social Worker until her retirement.

Doris was instrumental in nurturing and raising all of her family members along with her children. She was left to care for her grandchildren after their parents passed. She guided them to be self-sufficient adults.

Auntie Doris is survived by, and leaves to cherish her name her daughter, Donna Jones of Lynn, Ma, five siblings, Betty Royston, (Richard) of Boston, Barbara Thompson of Lynn, Mildred Chandler, (Ronald) of Haverhill, Silvia Woodgett of Fitchburg, and Cheryl Thomas of Boston.

She is also survived by her grandchildren, Lang, Tahari, David and Tara, Latrielle Crowe-Morrison (Patrick), Dennis (Katie), Lanelle Burgess (Anthony) and John. She leaves eight great-grandchildren, four great great-grandchildren. Doris also leaves a host of loving nieces and nephews, and friends.

Rest now in Paradise Doris, we love you and we will miss you. Don't worry anymore about your family. You have given us the best years of your life guiding and teaching us how to be our best, contributing adults.
