Dorothy L. (Thompson) Robinson, age 91, of Lynn, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 15, 2014. She was the wife of the late William S. Robinson, Sr. Born in Lynn and a lifelong resident, she was the daughter of the late William and Alla (Chandler) Thompson. She was a graduate of Lynn English High School, class of 1941. Prior to her retirement, Dorothy was a machine operator at General Electric. She was a member of St. Stephen's Memorial Episcopal Church, where she was a Sunday School Teacher, a member of the choir, a lay reader, served communion, was part of the altar guild and served on the vestry. She was also President of the GE Riverettes, President of the Church Women United, President of AARP, President of YMCA Men and Women retirees, Local 201 GE Retirees and the Lyons Club. Dorothy is survived by her children, Paula Akiba of Cambridge, Barbara Boucher of Nashua, NH, William S. Robinson, Jr. of Riverview, FL and Victoria Wilder of Somerville, her sister, Marion McCarley of Virginia, 8 grandchildren, 5 great grandsons and many nieces and nephews. She was the grandmother of the late Shawn Robinson and sister of the late John, George, Henry, Walter, Robert, David and Beatrice Thompson, Bessie Harper, Alla May Jackson and Winifred Mitchell. Dorothy was loved, admired and well-respected by her family, friends, members of the community and everyone who knew her. Her leadership qualities and the impact she made on the lives of others are her greatest legacy. Funeral from the Goodrich Funeral Home, 128 Washington St., Lynn on Saturday at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral service in St. Stephens Memorial Episcopal Church, 74 South Common St., Lynn at 10 a.m. Visitation is Friday, 4-7 p.m. For those desiring, memorials may be made to the St. Stephen's Building Fund or to the Diabetes Foundation.
