Edith M. (Smith) Ward, 89, passed away peacefully on May 8 after a lengthy illness.  She was the daughter of the late Sydney and Leona Smith.  Edith was a lifelong Lynn resident and a 1950 graduate of Lynn Classical where she won the spelling bee.  She is survived by her children Michael J. Ward, Deborah F. Snow and Charles D. Ward Jr., and her brother Donald Smith.  She is predeceased by her sisters May Williams, Mary Brown, Francis Franklin, Lorraine Bingham and Joan Smith, brothers Sydney Smith Jr., Thomas Smith and Harold Smith.  She has many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  Wheel of Fortune lost it's biggest fan.  Services will be held In Goodrich Funeral Home, 128 Washington St., Lynn on Monday, 10:00 a.m.  Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
