Edward Louis MacFarlane Sr. passed away peacefully after a brief illness at age 79. He was predeceased by his beloved mother Marcelle (Gervais) Comeau and his brother George. Upon graduating from Salem High School, Ed joined the Air Force in 1956. He owned MacFarlane Construction Company which serviced the North Shore for many years. He leaves behind four children and their spouses: Edward Jr. and Samantha MacFarlane, Richard and Kim MacFarlane, Elaine MacFarlane and Brian Billert, and Daniel and Laurie MacFarlane. His 11 grandchildren will fondly remember him as "Grampy Gunsmoke". In addition, he is survived by his sister Judy MacFarlane of Florida, brother Raymond and his wife Susan MacFarlane of Salem, cousin Carole Richardson and husband Don of Saugus, several nieces and nephews and his special friend Janice Majur. In keeping with Ed's wishes, there will be no visiting hours, and burial will be private.
