IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Elizabeth
Means
October 17, 2021
Elizabeth (Bette) Gendron Means passed away on October 17,2021. She was loving, strong, fierce, vocal, and had an undeniable elegance that illuminated any room. Her wit, stories, recipes and memories will be passed on for generations to come. To know her was to love her. She will be missed dearly by all.
Bette enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling, cooking, pampering herself, and was the first to jump at the opportunity for a party. She looked forward to her annual vacation to the Hampton Beach Seafood Festival and indulged accordingly. She was quite the food connoisseur and her eyes were often bigger than her stomach. Hair cuts by Rosa were at the top of the pampering list. Immediately followed by bi-weekly manicures and pedicures. She would take her Maybeline brow pencil, hand mirror and work til she achieved perfection. She then not so humbly sat back in her rocking chair and waited for folks to gush and shower her with compliments.
She had a very keen sense of taste when it came to home decor. Lighthouses and nautical furnishings were her favorite. During the holiday season she would transform the house into a snowman fortress that all have grown to know and love. In recent years, she discovered a new passion for HGTV and home renovation. Unfortunately, this discovery was at the expense of her brother Bill's sanity. She loved her daytime soaps, Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, Criminal Minds and was a die hard supporter of all Boston sports teams.
She is survived by daughters, Shirley, Kim and Tawnya; son, Ryan and his companion Carolyn Eaten; brother, Bill and partner John; brother, Ted and wife Madeline; brother Dicky and partner Jim. Predeceased by mother, Shirley; grandmother, Pearl; sister, Donna; son-in-law, Herbie.
Bette's grandchildren and great- grandchildren were her pride and joy. Marissa, Melanie, Justin, Jarrod, Jalyssa, Danya, Dayshon, Jarrod Jr., Shawn Jr., Olivia and Kimaya were the apples of her eye. No matter the age, size, place or time Grammy/ Nanny would shower you in a bed of kisses and squeeze you ever so tightly. Her warm embrace was unmatched.
She is survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins: Tiffany, Brittany, Julian, Connor, Tarra, Dawn, Kenny, Frank, Frank Jr., Julianna, Kyle, Sabrina, Kelsey and numerous other family and friends.
Bette has transitioned to an eternal place where love, joy, good health, laughter and freedom are guaranteed. Her journey here is complete but her memory will live on for eternity.
