Emma (Fitzgerald) Sharkey, age 97, of Lynn, and a lifelong resident, passed away Tuesday, January 28, 2020.  She was the wife of the late Edward Sharkey.  Born in Springvale, Maine, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Emily (Popple) Fitzgerald.  She was educated in Lynn and a graduate of Lynn Classical High School.  Emma was a Veteran of WWII, serving with the United States Navy.  She was a homemaker and was a Twi Lighter of the Salvation Army and a member of Post 6 American Legion.   Emma loved to travel and enjoyed knitting and crocheting in her spare time.  She was devoted to the Salvation Army and volunteered there as well.  Emma was the grandmother of Jennifer C. Sharkey of Wildomar, CA and Michael J. Sharkey and his wife Mildred of Laporte, Texas and great grandmother of Zachary Sharkey, of Utah, Caitlin Sharkey of N. M., Matthew Sharkey and Mikayla Sharkey of LaPorte, TX, Mother in law of Patricia Sharkey, Aunt and cousin of several and Godmother of Robin Painchaud of Lynn.  She was the mother of the late Susan Sharkey and Michael E. Sharkey and sister of the late Helen Morris, George Fitzgerald and Edward Fitzgerald.

Her funeral service will be held on Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the Salvation Army Church, 1 Franklin Street, Lynn, followed by burial in Pine Grove Cemetery.  Visitation is Sunday, 12:00 – 3:00 in the Goodrich Funeral Home, 128 Washington St., Lynn.  For those desiring, memorials may be made to the Salvation Army Church.
