Obituary

George Albert Kangas of Sutton, MA passed away peacefully on Sunday March 27, 2022 at the age of 75, 18 days after being diagnosed with Stage 4 Small Cell Lung Cancer. He leaves his girlfriend of 9 years Donna Sunders of Lynn, siblings Lempi (Gail) LeBlanc, Reino Kangas and his wife Joan, and Carlo Kangas and his wife Cindy.  In addition, he leaves many, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

George was predeceased by his wife Ann Carter, his parents George V. Kangas and Olga Kangas, and his siblings Norman Kangas, Francis Kangas, Mary Peterson, and Edward Kangas.

George was born in Rockland, ME the youngest of eight children.  He grew up in Sutton, MA where he was drafted into the into the Army at the age of 18 and served as a combat medic on the front lines of the Vietnam War. Later George went on to become a certified orderly in nursing homes.  George loved to crochet, and he would crochet afghans to give to everyone. He loved puzzles. He was so proud of each puzzle he completed.

A graveside ceremony will be held at Hope Cemetery in Worcester on Saturday April 23, 2022 with an open house celebration of life following at 58 Stone School Road, Sutton, MA 01590 from 12:30-6:00pm.  In leu of flowers a donation to the American Cancer Society, Lung Cancer Research can be made in his name.
