For the last five years, he was an associate member of the Boston Crusaders Senior Drum and Bugle Corps. He was a Yankee's Fan, despite the fact that his family is all Red Sox fans, and he was a "season ticket holder" for 60 years at Suffolk Downs (he lost more than he won). He enjoyed sitting in the screenhouse with his wife, watching and feeding the birds, and his Sunday nights with country western at O'Briens. He was full of "one liners".
