Gregg (Charles) Bethune, 66, passed away peacefully after a lengthy period of declining health. He lived most of his life in Swampscott where he grew up in a home with family, friends and extended family who provided lots of love and laughter. He was always very mechanically inclined and adept at fixing most anything. He especially excelled at fixing cars and computers. His gift of patience was what helped guide him through his caretaking of his Mom and Dad as they aged in place in their home.

Gregg was the loving son born to Charles and Eileen (Strugnell) Bethune. He was predeceased by them as well as his wonderful grandparents Frank and Lizzie Strugnell, Allan and Ruth Bethune. He was the brother of Allan Bethune and his sister Cheryl Fitzgerald. He also leaves behind his in-laws Paula Bethune, Vanessa Bethune and Brian Fitzgerald. His beloved brother Earl predeceased him in 2021.

Gregg was a proud uncle to his nieces and nephews along with their spouses and children. He leaves Christine (Andrew) Light, Michael (Joy) Bethune, Barry Bethune, Tara Bethune and Michael Fitzgerald. He will be missed by their children: Casey, Cameron, Anna, Mya, Morgan, Mila, Joshua, Ben, Lucas and Cody.

He will be fondly remembered by his Bethune and Strugnell aunts, uncles and many cousins. His Strugnell/Philcrantz cousins surrounded him with love and laughter until his last days.

Gregg’s last year was spent at the Lafayette Nursing Home in Marblehead where he was treated with much kindness and good cheer. Many thanks to them for making him comfortable and happy until the end.

Gregg will be remembered as a good soul. May he now rest peacefully alongside Mom and Dad. He will be buried privately in Swampscott Cemetery with his parents.
