James William Griffin, age 85, of Lynn, passed away on December 24, 2025.  Born on June 30, 1940, he was the son of the late Catherine Griffin Turnball and Murphy Williams.  James worked at Lynn Plastics 1976-2005 until his retirement.  He was a member of Post 507.  James opened a sub shop on Western Ave: "Idiot's Delight" and introduced the taco to Lynn Sub Shops.  He loved playing horseshoes with friends and singing songs, playing music, learning about History, watching T.V., eating donuts and coffee and living a simple life.  James is survived by his sister Robina Fitzpatrick, his brother and sister-in-law William and Kathy Griffin, his daughter and son-in-law Kelley and Mark Cheeks, his son James Michael Griffin, his daughter and son-in-law Dawn and Tito Toro, 12 grandchildren, who called him Boopa and Grampy; Andree', Charrell, Jovon, Aunjole' and Le'Jean Williams, Damon, Tarrell, Jimmy, Jamie, and Alex Griffin, Anthony and Aaron Toro, 13 great-grandchildren, Destiny and Alexis Rodriguez Jr., Emanyi and Emai Williams, Brian, Jacquez, Alanzo and Ava Green, Malik and LaShe'aa  Campbell, Sophia, Tarrell Jr. and Hunter Griffin, and his friends, among them: his friend and former wife Susan Hanlon.  James was the father of the late Kimberly S. Griffin, the brother of the late Robert E. Griffin, brother-in-law of the late Michael Fitzpatrick, and was predeceased by his adopted parents Jim and Katherine "Kate" Skinner.    Visitation for James will be on Saturday, January 3, 2026, 12:00 – 3:00 p.m.  in the Goodrich Funeral Home, 128 Washington Street, Lynn.  Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
