Toomey
March 6, 1951 – December 23, 2020
On Tuesday December 23, 2020, James M. Toomey, loving Father and Grandfather passed away at the age of 69. Jim was born in Charlestown, MA. To Florence Lyons Toomey and Joseph Toomey. He was a lifelong resident of Lynn, MA. And graduated from Lynn English High School. Jim opened his own small business selling furniture and antiques. Deciding to change career paths, He became everyone's favorite bartender until he retired.
Jim had an energy about him that drew people in. He was a great listener and always there with a helping hand. Up North was his favorite place to be and all his annual family vacations took place there. He was totally content sitting on the lake, beer in hand, watching his kids and grandkids have the time of their lives. JT was an avid sports fan and was a softball player with Bennies for many years. He was also was a huge fan of the oldies. Some of his all-time favorites were Elvis, Roy Orbison, and ABBA. What we will remember most about him is his quick wit, sarcastic comebacks, and his compassionate heart.
Jim is survived by his wife Lisa Kirk Toomey and their two children Melissa Nolan (spouse Thomas Nolan) and Amanda Kirk; First wife Deborah Dumas and their two children Adena Toomey Avery and James Toomey; oldest daughter Dawn Smith; His grandchildren Justin Avery, James Toomey, Anthony Toomey, Thomas Nolan, Makai Kirk, Meelah Kirk, Amanda Phillips, Ashley MacDonald, and Richard MacDonald; His sister Mary Guy and brother Walter Toomey; and many nieces and nephews.
Jim is preceded in death by his father Joseph Toomey and Mother Florence Lyons Toomey; his sibling's Joseph Toomey, John Toomey, Bill Toomey, Patricia Tyler, Edward Toomey, Dorothy Mulcahy, and Deborah Martin.
Services will be held to celebrate his life on January 17, 2021 from 1-3 at Goodrich Funeral home, 128 Washington Street, Lynn, MA. All are welcome but please be aware that only a minimal amount of people will be allowed in at one time.
