Jean Feibel Barron Sack, age 100, of Swampscott, died October 11, 2014. Born November 8, 1913 in Columbus, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Helen (Goldsmith) Feibel.
She attended Ohio State University where she was a member of the basketball team, the field hockey team and Captain of the swimming team.
In 1932, she married Dr. Louis Barron, a prominent surgeon on Boston's North Shore. Following the death of Dr. Barron in 1965, in 1978 she married George Sack, a wine merchant, who died in 1984.
The Lynn Item voted Mrs. Barron Lynn's "Woman of the Year" for her interest and involvement with the education of the children in Lynn. She was president of an organization consisting of all the Lynn school principals and the PTA presidents.
Championing a cause for "Grannie Cushions" a seat booster for the elderly to be provided in restaurants, in 2012 at the age of 98, Mrs. Sack was granted a patent by the United States Patent and Trademark Office for her design.
She was the mother of Toby B. Green of Sydney, Australia and Lynn, MA and the late Michael Barron and Peter Barron.
A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, October 22nd at 2:30 P.M. at the Bertram House, 565 Humphrey St., Swampscott. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lynn Cancer Association, P.O. Box 3153, Peabody, MA 01960, an organization that Mrs. Sack was associated with for over 50 years and president of for 2 years.
