John A. Calder, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and passionate train enthusiast, 87 of Lynn, MA, passed away at home peacefully on Monday, November 13, 2023, after a brief illness. Son of Clarence and Helen Calder of Lynn, MA, John lived his entire life in Lynn. He worked most of his life as a steam engineer at Empire Linen. After retirement, he spent most days enjoying his true passion for model trains assisting friends and fellow train enthusiasts at Northeast Trains in Peabody, MA. He loved spending time with his family and going on many train trips with his friends. He was an amazing photographer and considered the family chronologist always taking the unexpected candid shot that made you smile. He had a talent for capturing those special moments.
John is survived by his wife of 66 years, Nancy Calder (Hayward) of Lynn, MA; brother Clarence Calder, Jr., and Rose (pre-deceased), of Mansfield, CT; sister Virginia Gogas and her husband George of Groton, MA; daughter Cinde Webb and her husband Daniel of Saugus, MA; son Ronald Calder and his wife Claudia of Peabody, MA; daughter Donna Sanphy and her husband Brian of Lynn, MA; son David Calder and his wife Lisa of Manchester, NH; 12 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.
He is predeceased by his sister Florence Natowicz (Calder) of Saugus, MA; and brother David Calder of Lynn, MA
