Lynn, MA – John Francis Quinn (Johnny), age 76 years, of Lynn Massachusetts died Monday, November 7th surrounded by family at the Union Hospital in Lynn after a brief illness. He was the son of the late John and Alice (Ajootian) Quinn. John was the loving partner of Eleanor Thompson of Lynn for over two decades. Born in Lynn, he was raised in Lynn and Salem before settling in Lynn for the past 25 years. John spent many years working for United Shoe Co. in Beverly and Laidlaw Transportation Services in Reading before his retirement. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Salem where he was an active volunteer, calling numbers and serving refreshments at the weekly bingo games. John regularly attended the PACE program on Market Street, where he had many good friends and fond memories. He was an avid sports fan, following every step of the Red Sox and the Patriots, but his all-time favorite was High School football. He closely followed the English Bulldogs and Classical Rams and he and Eleanor rarely missed a Thanksgiving Day game. John was a frequent traveler to Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun where he and Eleanor spent tons of quality time and a few rolls of quarters at the slot machines. Johnny truly relished his role as an Uncle, great Uncle, and great-great Uncle.
Besides his dear friend Eleanor, John is survived by his sister Louise (Quinn) Stafford of California, his brother-in-law William (Bill) McKeever of Florida, many nieces, nephews and their families. He was the beloved brother of the late Theresa (Quinn) McKeever of Lynn and Florida, and the late Robert (Bob) Quinn of Swampscott. He was preceded in death by his nephew William (Billy) McKeever of Haverhill and his sister-in-law Joan Quinn (Kiley) of Swampscott.
Services will be held Saturday, November 19th at the Goodrich Funeral Home, 128 Washington St, Lynn. Memorial and Visitation will be from 10:00am to 12:00pm followed by a funeral procession to the graveside service at St. Mary's Cemetery on North St. in Salem. In lieu of flowers, donations in John's memory can be made to Hospice of the North Shore.
