Joseph Michael DiGregorio, 82 of Lynn, formerly of Somerville, passed away peacefully on February 19th after a lengthy illness. The youngest of eight, he was born in Somerville on January 7th, 1942 to Alice and Pasquale DiGregorio.

Joe, as he was known to friends and family, was an avid Boston sports fan who grew up enjoying time spent with his father at the Friends Street Gym, watching boxing matches and following the careers of his most admired boxers. His favorite pastimes included fishing and sharing long meals at the dining room table with family and friends.

Joe's true passion was found in music. He especially loved the oldies. Family gatherings were not complete without Joe on his guitar, strumming away, singing one song after another with his nephew-in-law, Bob Martin. When he wasn't playing music, Joe was slipping jokes into all conversations. He could be relied on to make any situation less uncomfortable with his quick wit, impeccable timing, and comedic comebacks. With his devoted wife and loved ones by his side, Joe was making everyone laugh right up to the very end.

He is survived by his wife, Deborah Medeiros DiGregorio, his two children from a previous marriage, and many nieces and nephews, especially his nephew Michael DiGregorio, who spent much time supporting Joe and Debby during his illness. Joe was predeceased by his parents, his sisters, Viola, Eleanor, Dorothy, Gloria, Jean, and brothers, Pasquale and Anthony. A private family Celebration of Life will be held.
