Karen (Howard) Boyd, age 51, longtime resident of Lynn passed away on October 25, 2016 after a brief illness. Karen was born in Norfolk, Virginia and moved to Lynn as a young child. She lived in Lynn for the greater part of her life. Karen attended Lynn Public Schools and was employed as a Customer Service Representative for Hertz. Karen loved her family and was truly the glue that held her family together. Her love for the "Boyd Boys" was always evident. She treasured the time spent with her grandchildren and each of them knew that "Grammy" loved them. She was an avid sports fan and vocally supported all local teams, her attendance at games never went unnoticed. Karen loved life and always was the "life of any event." She was also the love of Bob's life. Karen and Bob met over thirty-seven years ago. This young love flourished and formed an unbreakable union. You would rarely see one without the other; they enjoyed travelling together, dining out, visiting family and friends, and hosting some of the best parties the city has ever seen. Her smile and contagious laugh will be missed.
Karen leaves to mourn the love of her life, her best friend, her husband, Bobby Boyd of Lynn; three sons, Bobby Boyd Jr. of Lynn, and his daughter Jayla, Anthony Boyd of Lynn, his girlfriend Rosana and his daughter Anaya, and Jamaal Boyd of Lynn, his girlfriend Stephanie, and his son Jamaal; a daughter Princess Avery of Lynn and her two children Shakoor and Sa'Ray; three sisters, Sharon Lane, her boyfriend Danny Avery, their son Tony; Pam Howard and her two children Jameca and Mark; the Honorable Ina Howard-Hogan of Lynn, her husband Christopher and their three children, Precious, Paradise and Schuyler; two brothers, Darrell Lane of Lynn and his three children, Darrell, Amanda and Derek; and John Howard of Lynn. Her aunts: Lemuette Hobson of Calumet Park, Illinois, Francine Wilder of Chicago, Illinois, Patricia Vaughan of Lynn, Larnell Lane of Lynn, Jannie Robinson of Lynn. Her extended family: Tomeka Robinson, Bernard "Shay" Robinson, Andre Robinson and Alphonso "Al" Robinson. She is predeceased by her mother Ina Howard and her father John Howard. She also leaves to mourn a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, very close friends, and many others who affectionately called her "Auntie Karen."
A funeral service will be held in the Goodrich Funeral Home, 128 Washington St., Lynn on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Visitation is Friday 6-8 p.m.
