Obituary

It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Kheng Kry , 73, of Quincy, Massachusetts, on November 12, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones after a valiant two-year battle with cancer. He was the devoted husband of Hue Leang, with whom he shared 53 years of marriage.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his eight children: Lean Kry and Sophiey Kry of Ohio; Lim Kry of Quincy; Lon Kry of Braintree; Leng Kry Parenteau and Kevin Parenteau of Rhode Island; KimLai Kry of Quincy; Lorng Kry and Jeanie Tang of Braintree; Kim Lang Kry of Braintree; and Lynda Kim Kry and Kevin Liang of Quincy. He is also survived by five grandsons, three granddaughters, and many nieces and nephews. Born in Tha Keo, Cambodia, he was the son of the late Jeng Kry and Nem Kim. During the Pol Pot regime, he endured the atrocities of the genocide firsthand and ultimately escaped the Killing Fields with his wife and children, traveling by foot and a bicycle to reach safety in Thailand. After spending several years in the refugee camp, his family was sponsored to come to the United States in 1984. Finding himself once again in a new country with limited resources and facing a language barrier, he remained determined to build a better life for our family. He and our family settled in Massachusetts, where he proudly attended Bunker Hill Community College.

Though he faced many life-altering hardships, those who truly knew him marveled at his playful spirit and joyful energy--whether he was showing off his dance moves whenever music played or doing something silly to make his grandchildren laugh, as they were his greatest joy. Some of our fondest childhood memories were summers spent at the Charles River Park, where we cherished spending time with family and friends picnicking by the river. In the little free time he had, he would spend it making home-cooked meals for us, especially his hand cut french fries, always followed by his familiar question: "Delicious or delushoosh". In recent years, his favorite moments were spent camping in New Hampshire during their annual trip with his wife, nieces, nephews and their families.

He will be profoundly missed, but his memory will live on in all of us who deeply loved him and in those who knew him. May he now rest easy and be at peace, knowing that he was loved beyond words and be missed beyond measure and that Mom will be in good hands.
