IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Leslie
Palmer
December 11, 2023
Leslie Robinson Palmer – of Lynn
Leslie was the third of six children, born October 28, 1933, to Lenora Grizzle and Wilfred Palmer in the parish of St. Andrew, Jamaica.
He attended Shetolah Park all age school in Kingston where he completed his basic education.
During his teenage years, he became fascinated with bicycles and started racing and riding with friends. He competed as an amateur for a few years and retired. However, he continued to ride into his early eighties. After experiencing several mishaps, he gave up cycling.
It was during one of his many rides that he met a young and beautiful 16-year-old rose named Ivy. It was love at first sight for him. Leslie and Ivy became close and the relationship blossomed and a family soon developed. On August 15, 1960, Leslie married Ivy and nine children came from the union. Children include Hugh, Glynis, Elizabeth, Preston, Hyacinth, Violet, Paulett, Nugent, Odette, and Sharon.
Leslie worked at many jobs during his life and on various construction housing projects in Kingston and St. Catherine.
Leslie was predeceased by 2 (two) of his daughters Glynis and Violet and his brothers Noel, and Franklin, sisters Gloria and Yvonne. He is survived by his younger sister Norma of Chicago.
He is survived by eight (8) children, thirty-one (31) grandchildren, forty-three (43) great grandchildren, five (5) great, great grandchild, nephews, nieces, grand and great grandnephews/nieces, in-laws, and friends.
He enjoyed spending time at cookouts, dinners, and holiday gatherings with the family. He also enjoyed all the new babies and watching them grow and thrive. His quiet, unassuming presence will be missed.
