IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Louis C
Newson, Jr.
December 4, 2022
On Sunday, December 4, 2022 Louis Cozy Newson Jr passed peacefully into eternal rest, at home in Lynn, MA, at the age of 72. His loving sister, Maria, was by his side.
He was born on December 4, 1950 in Boston, MA. The eldest son of the late Louis Cozy Newson Sr. and Irene Newson.
At a young age, his presence graced St. Christopher's church as an altar boy, and while growing up in Columbia Point, he was known for his style, fashion, and his cars - amongst other things. He was an avid pool and chess player, and his pool stick and shoeshine kit could be seen at Mines Pool Hall in Downtown Boston.
He was a graduate of Boston Trade class of "68", and upon graduation, he went into the baker's trade where his skills shined so brightly that he became one of Boston's first young black bakers to land a job at Ken's Restaurant in Copley Square as a pastry chef. He won many trophies for his skills as a baker and chef.
His love of fishing was a lifelong passion. Be it fresh water or salt water, he had a fishing pole to suit his needs and would rejoice is his catch, no matter the size.
Like all who "grow", Louis changed his life, but never changed the person he was. His gratefulness and gratitude were shared every day with his inspiring text messages that would come across many of our phones. Later in life, he was active in the community, volunteering his time as well as doing "My God's Work" as a sponsor to help other people "grow".
He always loved his family and was a loving and devoted husband in caring for his late wife, Lynn.
Louis is preceded in death by his wife, Lynn Diane Newson, and his sister, Joyce West. He is survived by his children Shannon D. Richardson Sr., Louis C. Newson III, Daryl R. Newson, Kordel L. Newson Latimer, Deloris L. Newson Latimer and Deidra A. Newson, and his siblings Tina Spears, Sylvia Turner, Patricia Kelton, Lourene M. Newson, Mark Newson, Allen Newson and Maria Newson. He is also survived by and is loved and will be missed by numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
