Mary Elisabeth (Thompson) LaPointe, 77, passed away at home on April 11, 2016 after a long and brave struggle with heart disease. According to her wishes she has quietly joined the rest of her family at Saint Mary's Cemetery in Salem, MA. Mary enjoyed being with people and had a unique personality that drew people toward her. Born and raised in her beloved fields of Gray, Maine, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Fannie (Hawkes) Thompson.
Moving to Peabody after her father passed away in 1955 and then to Salem. It was in Salem where she met and married her Bobby LaPointe. Then after starting a family they moved to Danvers in 1972. For the past 20 years she made a home with her companion Bill Murphy of Peabody and became a loving part of his family.
She is survived by her sister Joan Maloney of Farmington, ME and her brother Maurice Thompson of Dade City, FL along with two grandsons Michael LaPointe of Peabody and Eric LaPointe and his wife Jahna of Salem, NH. She is also survived by one granddaughter Cassidy LaPointe of Billerica and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Robert W. LaPointe Sr. a former Fireman for the city of Salem and her sons Robert Jr, Michael and Daniel.
