IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary Grace
Prichard
December 4, 1953 – January 31, 2023
Mary Grace Prichard, age 69, passed away at home in Lynn, MA on January 31, 2023 after a year of deteriorating health. She left behind her sisters Loretta Saint-Louis and Annie Hoover and Annie's husband Rick, her nephew Jean-Philippe Saint-Louis (JP) and his wife Shelita, and their children, Zion, and Zoelle, her nephew Darren Smith, her aunt, Margaret Nugent, many cousins, and many friends. Mary Grace was pre-deceased by her parents, Rev. Norman Young Prichard and Marianna Nugent Prichard. She was also pre-deceased by her fiance, blues musician Butch McClendon.
Mary Grace was a graduate of Tallmadge (Ohio) High School (1972) and Ohio Wesleyan University (1976). She worked for several years in the admitting office at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Brighton, MA, then provided administrative support at an environmental engineering firm before health issues prevented her from continuing.
She was a devout Christian and a member of the Pentecostal Tabernacle in Cambridge, MA and the First Congregational Church in Revere, MA. For a while, she was an official bell ringer at United Parish, Brookline, climbing the stairs of the church tower and playing the carillon before Sunday services. Mary Grace's faith was strong and she was quick to say that God had carried her through many hard times. After years of drug abuse, she found support in Narcotics Anonymous and, on her past birthday, celebrated 26 years clean at a NA meeting, with the grace of God. She struggled with Bipolar Disorder and had many psychiatric hospitalizations before becoming more stable with the help of the PACT Team of Saugus and many other providers. Mary Grace chose to speak about her struggles, and her faith, openly and was able to reach out with love to others who were hurting. In addition, she was an accomplished musician (piano, guitar, and flute) and composed many songs, which she wrote in a book called "It's All About Love." The family treasures her artwork. Mary Grace is at peace now, breathing free, safe in the arms of Jesus.
A memorial service for Mary Grace Prichard will take place on Saturday, March 18, at 11:00 a.m., with gathering time at 10:00, at First Congregational Church, 230 Beach St. in Revere, MA.
