Michael Leni Gilbert (Mumbauer), resident of Peabody, passed away suddenly of a heart attack on Saturday, May 7, 2022.

He was the son of Debra (Bradley) Mumbauer and the late Michael L. Mumbauer.  Michael leaves his Sister Elizabeth Schadhauser and her husband and Michael's good friend Eisley of Peabody and his brother Andrew Mumbauer of Lynn.   He was predeceased by his brothers Joshua Hoke and Wayne Gilbert.  Uncle Michael leaves his nephew Sokhai and his nieces, Alyssa, Rachel, Nicole and Katelyn, aunts and uncles Larry Bradley, Jane and Mike Bradley, Wendy and Jay Smith, Late uncle Christopher Bradley and many other aunts and uncles and cousins.

Michael, known as "Big Pun" by his family and friends was born in Lynn and raised in Salem and Peabody. He graduated from Peabody High School and was employed at Vinfen Corporation.  Michael's employment allowed his caring side to show as he was a group home counselor caring for those in need.

He enjoyed time with his family, playing video games especially with his nephew Sokhai, and card nights at Liz & Eisley's house where he earned the nickname "River Mike." He truly had a heart of gold and there's nothing he wouldn't do for his friends and family, he might make some complaints along the way but he'd be there. There isn't a bet he wouldn't take no matter how crazy. Like jumping shirtless into a snowbank on a cold winter night. He'd always pay up…anything to get a laugh. He'll be missed more then he could ever imagine by many friends and family.

Visitation services will be held in the Goodrich Funeral Home on 128 Washington Street, Lynn, on Tuesday May 10, 2022, from 4:30PM to 8PM.
