Michael John Maes, age 68, of Lynn, formerly of Saugus, died peacefully at his home February 5, 2023.  He was the beloved husband of Brenda (O'Blenes) Maes, with whom he shared 31 years of marriage.  He was the son of the late Richard and Marie Maes.  What Mike did best was fix things.  Things other people gave up on.  He served in the United States Air Force as a missile maintenance mechanic for 4 years.  As a millwright, he worked at GE Everett, HK Porter Co. and Shaughnessy.  He was the Foreman at Pine Grove Cemetery in Lynn.  A midlife health crisis with a miracle survival forced an early retirement, but not a defeat.  With an iron will he re-entered life as his happy old self.  This defined his strong character.  Mike loved the backwoods, Monty's pizza and funny movies.  He had a wry sense of humor and a keen insight which was always good for a laugh.  He will be sadly missed.  In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Steven, Brian, Michael Jr., Vicki and Paul, 4 grandchildren, his brothers Charles (Mary Ellen) Gilbert, Leonard (Kathleen) Stephen (Candace) the late Thomas (Teda) the late Raymond, sisters Judy and Donna many nieces, nephews, cousins and his brother in law Jim O'Blenes.  His services will be announced at a later date.  Goodrich Funeral Home, Lynn.
