Minnie L.
Brown
September 25, 1945 – April 26, 2026
Minnie Lee Brown, born September 25, 1945, in Faunsdale, Alabama, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2026, surrounded by the love of family. Minnie was raised in Faunsdale, graduated from Marengo County High School, and later attended cosmetology school in Gadsden, Alabama. In July 1967, Minnie married Moses Brown III, who preceded Minnie in death. They later settled in Massachusetts, where they built a life together and made their home in Peabody. Minnie worked for many years at General Electric and later Ametek until retiring, and was admired for her dedication, kindness, and strong work ethic.
A woman of deep faith, Minnie was a devoted member of Zion Baptist Church in Lynn, serving faithfully as Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School Teacher, and Usher. Minnie was especially known for warm hugs that made everyone feel welcomed and loved.
Minnie was the beloved parent of Dexter Brown (Stephanie) and Angela Brown Owens (Phillip), and a devoted grandparent to Brandon Owens, Myles Owens, Destiney Brown, Dexter Brown Jr., and Dahleah Brown.
Minnie was the daughter of Rev. Robert Walker and Viola Wilson, both of whom preceded Minnie in death, along with siblings Major Walker, Hattie Walker Hood, and James Walker. Minnie is survived by siblings Robert Walker Jr. (Rose), Alberta Mason, Viola McCray (Adam), Addie Blackmore (Clark), Leslie Long, and Mary Walker Jenkins. Following Viola’s passing, Rev. Walker married Ida Bell Jones, who, until her passing, became a cherished second mother to Minnie. Through this loving blended family, Minnie gained siblings Mose Ed Jones (Leola), Sadie Jones Black, and Anthony Walker (Cheryle), and was preceded in death by Barry Jones and Richard Walker (Michelle). Minnie also leaves sisters-in-law Carol Brown and Mildred Henderson (Joseph), along with many nieces, nephews, godchildren, friends, and loved ones who will forever cherish Minnie’s memory.
The family kindly asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in loving memory of Minnie Brown. As Minnie faced the challenges of Alzheimer’s with grace and strength, contributions in her honor will help support other families walking a similar path.
