Nemiah Collins, 76, died November 23, 2019 in Springfield, MA after a long illness. His funeral service will be held this Saturday at Goodrich Funeral Home, 128 Washington Street, Lynn, MA.
Mr. Collins was born on December 12, 1942 in Chatfield, Arkansas to the late Walter Collins and Viola (Ingram) Collins Bell. Mr. Collins left Memphis, Tennessee and moved his family to Lynn, MA in 1966. He graduated from IT Technical Institute as an Auto Mechanic. Mr. Collins and Bruno Thornton owned a successful auto mechanic and body shop in Boston. He later retired in 2005, after working with US Plastics Corp for 15 years.
Mr. Collins is survived by his devoted wife, Dorothy (Thornton) Collins of 57 years and to this union, seven children were born; four sons, Lee Collins of Shreveport, Louisiana, Linze Collins of Salem, MA, Cornell Collins of Webster, MA, Matt and Heather (Stanton) Collins of Lynn, MA. His three daughters are Dorothy "Tina" Collins of Marblehead, MA, Diana Collins and Timothy Evans of Lynn, MA, and Loleta Collins of Springfield, M.A. Including, our special family friends, Mark and Paula Rodgers of Peabody, MA.
His late brothers and sisters precedes him in death; Tommy Lee Collins, Jerry Collins, M.C. Collins, W.D. Collins, Lenora Darnell Walker, Deretha and Calvin Reed, Viola (John) Prince. His surviving siblings are Ida Lee (Leon) Rushing, Ella Mae Bell and James "Sonny" Bell of Memphis, TN. He's survived by his in-laws; Delois Morris, Crittenden "Bruno" and Leannie Thornton, Curtis Thornton, Eugene and Linda Thornton, Johnnie May and John Speed.
His surviving grandchildren are Torrell "Billie" Desmond, Na'Telle Lewis, Nicollette Sainton, Mahalia Sainton, LaKim Collins, Kawana Collins, Tashawn Collins, Darren Balsam, Matt Collins, Jr., Mia Collins, Daysha Collins, Daeshawn Collins and great-grandchildren; Kyanna, Kyron, and Nahmir Collins. He's also survived by a host of many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
