Obituary

Peter Joseph Gibney of Lynn Massachusetts tragically passed away October 11th, 2024, following a brief illness brought on by a sudden severe asthma attack and cardiac arrest. He had just celebrated his 44th birthday on September 19th. Peter was born in Lynn, Massachusetts, the youngest son of the late John P and Margaret M (Anderson) Gibney. He graduated from Lynn Classical High School class of 1998.

In the year 2000 at Square One Mall in Saugus, Peter met the girl he would one day call his wife, Shannon. After a lengthy period of dating and engagement, Peter and Shannon were joined together in wedded bliss on July 14th, 2017. A year later Peter and Shannon welcomed their son, Miles D Gibney, into their family. Peter, Shannon, and Miles enjoyed many common interests and adventures including camping, playing video games, listening to music, a deep love of the Star Trek franchise, and traveling to Walt Disney World in Florida and Disneyland in California.

Peter was a talented design consultant, employed by Blinds to Go for over 23 years. He received numerous awards during that time, recognizing him for his hard work and dedication, including a President's Award early in his career, where he was flown to Quebec, Canada and met the founder of the company.

As an avid and accomplished hiker, Peter hiked Mount Washington in New Hampshire multiple times, in different seasons, including in winter. He hiked all 48 4000 ft mountains in New Hampshire at least once. He also completed the Acadia 26, the Blue 22, and the Ossipee 10. Other notable hikes he completed include the highest peaks east of the Mississippi River; Mt. Mitchell, Mt. Craig, and Clingman's Dome in the Black Mountains of North Carolina. Also Mt. Marcy, the highest peak in the Adirondacks located in New York.

Peter is survived by his loving wife Shannon (LaBonte), and cherished son Miles, both of whom will keep Peter's memory in their hearts forever.

He is also survived by a sister Alice (James) Troisi , nieces Kathleen (John) Troisi-Bossi , Madeline Troisi, Elizabeth Troisi, and nephew Kevin Troisi.

Other survivors include his brother Christopher Gibney, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, nieces, close friends, and hiking buddies.
