Raymond "Ray" W. Sweeney, age 56, of Lynn, passed away Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at his residence. He was the husband of Kathleen (Casey) Sweeney. Born and raised in Somerville; and a resident of Lynn since 2001, he was the son of the late Francis and Pauline (Newman) Sweeney. He was employed as an HVAC Tech, working for Building Technology Engineering. Ray loved basketball, and played for the city of Somerville basketball league. He especially loved vacationing in Vermont. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his step children, William J. Sherman of Billerica, Melissa Karpinsky and her husband Dave of Hampstead, NH, Paul Michael Sherman and his wife Tara of Billerica, and Katie Michaud and her husband Eric of Wilmington, his sisters, Mary and her husband Walter Ronland of Medford and Sally Sweeney of Somerville, 6 grandchildren, Keelyn, Jason, Joseph, Jack, Patrick and Matthew, his favorite aunt Sally Kelly of Arlington, his nephew Michael Eric Ronland of Medford, favorite cousins Wendy and Daniel Gonywa of VT and AnnMarie and Bill Countie of Billerica and his "hound from Heaven" Derby. Visitation will be held in the Goodrich Funeral Home, 128 Washington St., Lynn, on Tuesday at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in Sacred Heart Church, Boston St., Lynn, at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend.
