IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Richard Charles
Gendron
April 25, 1956 – August 13, 2025
Richard Charles Gendron, affectionately known as "Big Daddy," passed away on August 13, 2025. Born on April 25, 1956, in Lynn, he was the beloved son of the late Shirley Gendron. After losing his mother at just two years old, Richard was lovingly raised by his grandmother, Pearl
Gendron. He later made his home in Swampscott, where he spent most of his life. Richard worked for many years in the service industry and as a security guard for a local band and at 47 Central, where he enjoyed being surrounded by friends. Most recently, he worked as a
delivery driver for Captain's Pizza in Swampscott, where he was well-known and appreciated. Traveling was always at the top of Richard's list. Many times, if you couldn't find him, he'd later call to say he was on vacation and didn't know when he'd be back. That was just typical
Richard—full of surprises and living life his own way. Richard will be deeply missed by his partner, Jim Martin, and their beloved fur babies. He is also survived by his brothers, Bill Gendron and his partner John Cennami, and Teddy Gendron and his wife Madeline Gendron; his godson, Ryan Gendron; and his nephew, Kenny Gendron, who was always by his side. He was cherished by many nieces and nephews—Shirley, Kim, Todd,
Tawnya, Tiffany, Tarra, Dawn, and Frank—and held a special bond with his best friend, Val. He was predeceased by his sisters, Bette Means Gendron and Donna Smith Davis, whom he loved dearly, as well as his nephew Troy. Richard was truly the life of the party. Though a big man in stature, to his family he was a gentle teddy bear with a heart as large as his personality. Known for his humor and love of being the joker in any room, Richard brought laughter and joy wherever he went. He enjoyed gambling, especially poker nights at the Knights of Columbus in Swampscott, where he shared countless games with his nephew-in-law Herbie and his partner in crime Rich Griffin.
Our family takes comfort in knowing that Richard is no longer suffering and is finally at peace. His laughter, kindness, and larger-than-life spirit will live on in the memories of all who loved him.
