Richard "Dicky" Sayers, age 73, formerly of Peabody and Nahant, passed away Friday, February 5, 2016 in the Masconomet Healthcare in Topsfield. Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late Arthur J. and Louise J. (Powers) Sayers. Richard had been a member of the National Guard, serving four years. Prior to his retirement, he worked as a Bus Operator for the MBTA for thirty one years. He attended St. Anthony's Church in Revere, and enjoyed life, and helping others less fortunate. He was a boat owner, and fishing was his passion. He is survived by two sons, Richard and his wife Vivian Sayers of Sandown, NH and Eric Sayers of Methuen, his sister, Patty Doirin of Beverly, three grandchildren, Charles Sayers, Samantha Sayers and Jillian Sayers, his former wife, Janice Sayers, and many nieces, nephews and good friends. He was the brother of the late Jack Sayers, Carol Walzak, Robert Sayers and Jane Sayers. A funeral service will be held in the Goodrich Funeral Home, 128 Washington St., Lynn, on Wednesday, during the visitation of 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Jimmy Fund.
