Rogers Lee Pitcher Sr, passed away on Sunday, May 31, 2015 at the age of 79 following a lengthy illness. He was surrounded by his beloved family.
Rogers of Lynn, MA was born and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana where he attended Capitol High School and played football. After finishing high school, he enlisted in the United States Army. While stationed on a base in Saugus, MA he met his future wife, Gloria Breedy. They married in 1956. Mr. Pitcher worked at many different jobs over the course his lifetime, the most notably was at the General Electric in Lynn, He worked there for over 20 years before retiring in 1999. His favorite pastime was playing golf and listen to the sounds of B.B. King and other Blues Artists.
Rogers is survived by his lovely wife, Gloria Breedy Pitcher, his sons, Lawrence Pitcher, Roger Pitcher Jr and his daughter, Nadine Pitcher Murkison. He also leaves his two brothers James and Sargent Pitcher, several grandchildren, a great grandson, nieces, nephews and a host of other family and friends. His funeral service will be held in the Zion Baptist Church in Lynn on Friday at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Visitation is Thursday 5-8 p.m. in the Goodrich Funeral Home 128 Washington St., Lynn.
