Thomas "Tom" Joseph Abbott, age 70, passed away in his sleep at home September 27th, 2017 in Lynn, after a long battle with cancer. Tom was born July 14, 1947 to the late Thomas Anthony Abbott of Boston and Eileen (Chamberlain) of London, England. He is survived by his brother James M. Abbott, his daughter Gina Galvin and fiancé John Leighton of Lynn, his son Thomas of Lynn and grandchildren T.J. and Montana, his former wife Elizabeth of 28 years, his loving companion of 10 years, Lynne Alexander, several nieces and nephews and dear friends. Tom was a graduate of St. Dominic Savio High School in East Boston and Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston. He served in the Army National Guard as Lieutenant for eight years. He owned his plumbing business for many years before working for General Electric as a maintenance technician, master plumber and steamfitter until his retirement after 30years. Tom was a member of the IUE Local 201 and the Franco American War Veterans Association. He enjoyed pheasant hunting and deep sea fishing in Florida. His last wish was to go to Foxwoods again, and with his son's assistance, he was able to go only a few days before his passing. A memorial service will be held in the Goodrich Funeral Home, 128 Washington St., Lynn on Wednesday, 6-8 p.m. For those desiring, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
