Vera Susan Scott of Medford, MA, passed away on January 10, 2023, at Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, MA, after a brief illness. She was 67.

Vera was born on April 18, 1955, to Joseph and Betty Petriches in Holly, Michigan. She was a poet and novelist, fabric artist, and activist who loved animals.

Vera was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Petriches, and her father, Joseph Petriches; her sister, Delia McDermott; and her brother, Ricky Petriches. She is survived by her brothers, John J. Petriches, Melvin O. Petriches, and Robert J. Petriches; nieces and nephews; grandnieces and grandnephews; cousins; and friends.

To honor Vera's memory, loved ones are invited to do an act of kindness in Vera's name. A gathering will be held in the Boston area in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Vera's name to her favorite charity, the Animal Rescue League of Boston.
