Warren Primiano, age 89, died on February 15, 2025, at Kaplan Hospice in Danvers, Massachusetts. He was the son of Alfred J. Rhinemuth Primiano and Lina (Cambrola) Primiano. He was born and raised in New York City, where he attended public schools, and then graduated from Syracuse University where he earned an BA degree in Psychology. Subsequently, he was awarded an NIMH Fellowship for his professional academic training at Columbia University Graduate School of Social Work, where he earned an MSSW degree in Clinical Social Work.
Warren moved to Natick, Massachusetts, in 1963, to join the staff of the Boston-based Family Counseling and Guidance Centers, Inc., where he continued his post-graduate clinical training. He held various positions during his twenty-five-year career at FC&GC, Inc. For sixteen of those years, he was the Clinical/Administrative Director of the Danvers location. As a training supervisor, he also served as Adjunct Professor for several graduate schools of social work in Massachusetts. He was often called on to speak at various community service organizations, business groups, and appeared on local TV and radio programs. He was a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and accredited member of the American Group Psychotherapy Association and the National Association of Social Workers. After leaving FC&GC, Inc., in 1987, he expanded his private clinical practice and also provided consultation services to schools and businesses. He was especially devoted to students at the Manchester Essex Regional School District where he provided counseling and consultation services for eighteen years.
Warren was an ardent sailor, gardener, lover of history, music and art, as well as a friend of Bill for 35 years. As a child in New York, he studied cello, and at the age of six, he was recognized as the youngest American cellist to play in public. He was a parishioner of Our Lady Star of the Sea in Marblehead, Massachusetts, where he was a member of the choir for several years.
Warren leaves his wife Pamela Briggs Hogan; his daughters Lisa G. Widmaier and her husband Axel of Heidelberg, Germany, Karen L. Ball of Tamarac, Florida; his three sons Scott M. Primiano and his wife of Trish of Bartow, Florida, Michael J. Primiano and his wife Tara of Santa Clarita, California, and Jeffrey A. Primiano of Coral Springs, Florida; his two step-children Amanda Reeder and her husband Bob of Kirkville, New York, Briggs Reeder and wife Abbie of Beverly, Massachusetts; seventeen grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren, with a ninth great-grandchild expected in July of 2025; his three brothers Alfred J. Primiano of Warren, Rhode Island, Richard Primiano and his wife Joan of Massapequa, New York, and Rembrandt Primiano and his wife Martha of China Village, Maine; as well as his cousin Howard Cambrola of Warren, Rhode Island; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Alfred and Lina Primiano, his brother Nicholas, and his sister Marie.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at 11:00am, at Our Lady Star of the Sea, 85 Atlantic Avenue, Marblehead, MA; followed by a Celebration of Life at The Village of Vinnin Square community building. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Warren's memory to the Shriner's Children Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts ( Donate Here ).
